Reformer Pilates is more versatile than Mat Pilates and our amazing instructors will always provide progressions and regressions depending on your individual ability, along with the use of varying spring settings.
Reformer Pilates consists of performing a combination of flowing movements on a Reformer machine. Specially designed to challenge and strengthen the entire body, the ‘reformer’ is so named because it was created to reform the body of the participant.
Consisting of a large frame, topped with a flat, cushioned platform; this platform (or carriage) is attached to the frame by springs and moves as you push or pull with your legs and arms. Resistance can be increased or decreased depending on your skill level and goals. The reformer has long straps with handles which can be pulled to move the carriage. Through a variety of carefully choreographed movements, Reformer Pilates provides a full body workout.
End Result: You will feel like you have achieved the unachievable and are likely to be amazed at what your body can do and how much it can accomplish.
Mat classes are a great way to start if you are new to Pilates. You will be able to learn the core principles, form correction and how the body should flow in a Pilates class.
Essentially Mat Pilates is a form of exercise that is designed for the body to flow from one exercise to the next. Pilates exercises are designed to strengthen and lengthen your muscles whilst focusing on your core muscles and the bodies stabilising muscles. Mat Pilates is based on the original exercises Joseph Pilates developed to strengthen his own body as a very young man and then began teaching others.
During a Mat Pilates class you will use a variety of equipment such as rings, balls and weights that compliments the exercises so you can get the maximum out of your class.
We offer Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced classes to cater for everybody.
End Result: You’ll walk away feeling highly challenged and more motivated than when you walked in.
Barre class is a rigorous workout that blends elements from different exercise styles including ballet, Pilates, and Yoga. You'll also use other equipment, such as a mat, some free weights, exercise bands and exercise balls.
A Barre class is a hybrid workout, combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and strength training. Classes incorporate a ballet barre and also use classic dance moves such as plies, alongside static stretches. Barre also focuses on high reps of small range movements to help strengthen and tone your muscles without increasing bulk. Given the higher intensity It also increases cardiovascular endurance and metabolism, which helps to quickly burn calories
End Result: You’ll be walking away feeling refreshed, tighter and ready to take on the day.
